The Millennium Declaration was endorsed by 189 governments at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2000. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are based on the Millennium Declaration and consist of a set of eight global goals across a range of development priorities that countries are aiming to achieve by 2015.
