Youth representatives to present their Social Entrepreneurship projects

as National champions of the Regional Asia-Pacific Youth Co:Lab initiative

Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth, so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.

Activated2030: a Youth enterprising project of the UNDP in Mongolia became a member of Youth Co:lab and thereby implemented the Social entrepreneurship programme (SEP) with a focus on supporting the participation of youth in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs embed the global agenda established by the UN in 2015 towards eliminating poverty, reducing inequality and fighting climate change under the scope of leaving no one behind and protecting the most marginalized social groups. The Social entrepreneurship programme was organized in collaboration with the Science, Industrial Development and Innovation Agency of the Capital City as the implementing partner of the Activated2030 project in Ulaanbaatar city.

A total of 30 youth representatives aged 15-34 participated in the SEP, which was organized via a 2-day bootcamp and a 2-month mentorship programme. These youth participants will present and pitch their social entrepreneurship initiatives towards resolving social and environmental issues on 13 December.

During this social pitching event, a national champion will be selected from the groups that participated in the SEP who will then be given the opportunity to represent Mongolia and participate in the 3-month Regional Asia Pacific ‘Springboard Programme’ organized by Youth Co:Lab. By participating in the ‘Springboard Programme’, youth participants will be able to gain training on developing the branding, pitching, and overall growth of their social entrepreneurship ventures as well as gaining investment. There is also a chance that the hard work and determination of the teams will be rewarded with a chance to be part of the Youth Co:Lab Regional Summit 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Young people are encouraged to participate in this summit to present their social entrepreneurship projects and gain knowledge and experience of their peers on a regional level.
